Frequently Asked Questions
Is VoiceCraft free?
Yes. All core tools—Voice Recorder, Text-to-Speech, Script Editor, Text Summarizer, Plagiarism Remover, VocEmail, and the rest—are free to use in your browser. No account or credit card is required. We may add optional paid plans later (e.g. cloud backup or API access); the main toolkit will stay free.
My recording or transcript disappeared. Why?
VoiceCraft processes data locally in your browser. If you clear site data, use a private/incognito window, or switch devices, your unsaved session is lost. To keep recordings and transcripts: use "Save" or "Save to History" when signed in, or export/download files (e.g. MP3, WAV) before closing the tab. See our Documentation for more on how local storage works.
How do I use the Voice Recorder?
Go to the Voice Recorder tool, allow microphone access when prompted, and click the record button. You can use Live Transcription for real-time text, or record first and transcribe after. Recordings are processed on your device. For step-by-step instructions, visit our Documentation.
The microphone isn't working. What should I do?
Check that your browser has permission to use the microphone (usually in the address bar or in site settings). Ensure no other app is exclusively using the mic. Try Chrome, Edge, or Safari if another browser fails. Restart the browser or clear the site's permissions and allow again. If it still fails, contact us with your browser and OS version.
Can I export or download my recordings?
Yes. After recording, use the download/export option in the Voice Recorder to save as MP3 or WAV. For generated speech from the Voice Generator, use the download button to save the audio file. Exports are created in your browser and saved to your device.
Do you have an API for developers?
We are developing a commercial API for transcription, text-to-speech, and related features. For early access, enterprise licensing, or custom integrations, see our Partners page or contact us.
Is my data private? Where is it processed?
For the main tools, audio and text are processed locally in your browser (on your device). We do not upload your recordings to our servers for transcription. If you sign in, only the data you choose to save (e.g. history) is stored in our database. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
What languages does transcription support?
Our browser-based transcription supports many languages; the exact list depends on the model loaded in the tool. You can often select a language or use auto-detect. For the Voice Generator (text-to-speech), multiple voices and accents are available. Check each tool's interface for current options.
How do I save my work across sessions?
Sign in with a free account, then use "Save to History" (or equivalent) in each tool. Your saved items appear in your Dashboard. Without an account, we recommend exporting files (e.g. downloading audio or copying text) before closing the page.
Where can I learn how to use each tool?
We have a Documentation page with guides for the Voice Recorder, Script Editor, Text Summarizer, and other tools. Each tool page also includes tips and FAQs. Start at /documentation or open any tool and scroll down for usage notes.
I found a bug or have a feature request. How do I report it?
